Deep in a snowbound mountain wilderness, a fugitive lives in hiding, sustaining himself by chopping wood, hunting, fishing through the ice, and melting snow for water. Though his existence appears calm, almost monastic, beneath the surface his inner world is in constant upheaval. His solitude is disrupted by the arrival of a woman searching for someone lost in the forest, and a young boy who believes his father is a police officer. As their lives become entwined, long-buried secrets begin to emerge, leading all three toward a truth more unexpected than they could have imagined.
